Technical Support
There are three major formats for streaming media on the Internet. You will need a player installed on your computer to hear these feeds, and you (might) have to configure your web browser (Netscape or Explorer) to handle the feeds. PenguinRadio links directly to the streaming media feeds of over 5,000 radio stations around the world. To access the feed, you need only click on the radio station's WEI number and the stream should commence downloading.
Real Audio Windows Media MP3

Real Audio is one of the most popular streaming technologies on the Internet. A majority of the radio stations that broadcast over the Internet use the Real Audio format (.ram).

BBC 5

Microsoft has released a free player that plays their format, which is growing in popularity. The download is free, and you can use it to listen to the .asx format.

WETA FM Washington

WinAmp

One of the most popular MP3 players for streaming media is the WinAmp Mp3 player. It is used as part of the Shoutcast directory system and can handle not only streaming MP3s but those you download as well.

Hardware Support

The PenguinRadio operates on LINUX, a very stable open-source platform which is revolutionizing the Internet. Our version of LINUX, which we have modified from the public releases, uses a relatively small amount of the device's memory.

Users can service the Penguin if they are familiar with LINUX (and really like that sort of thing), but standard operation of the Penguin requires no computer knowledge of any kind. If you can operate a television remote control, or dial a telephone, you'll have no problem with the Penguin.
