Active has been making its mark on Wellington for the past 20 years, since it first hit the AM airwaves in 1977 as a project of the radio club of the Victoria University of Wellington Students' Association. For 20 years, we've been the only station in Wellington playing the best variety of cutting-edge popular music: reggae, jazz, hip hop, breaks, lounge, dub, western, eastern, rock, roll, soul, techno, trance, dance, lo-fi, hi-fi, punk, funk, skunk, ambient, house, bassment, garage, the whole worldwide kitchen sink and - always - NZ music.
